“For their rock is not as our Rock”

Deuteronomy chapter 32 and like scriptures have been on my mind for a long time.

Definitely not excluding the 101 other things rolling around up in there either!

Sometimes there is so much to write about you don’t know where to start.  This has been my problem of late or maybe has always been my problem.

The one thing that alleviates  my problems is the word of God and his Spirit that comforts and teaches.  And makes known to me how great the Lord Jesus Christ is and how much we need him.

I recently was out doing work for a relative.  We got into it pretty good.  The “pretty good”, that I was not really wanting to get into.  Subjects were covered everywhere from christmas to many varying views that people hold to.  Who is God?  What is the Christian faith all about.  Why do we believe the things we believe?

The common theme that keeps coming up in many of the conversations I have, is how does one keep the faith that was once delivered to the saints.  That is at least how I categorize what is usually talked about in a conversation about the Christian faith.  I am sure the person I am talking to hear what they want to hear and categorize it accordingly.  That is however the basics of how I see most conversations with professing Christians, even the conversations that seem complicated.

The problem I see is that it usually ends up becoming about how “I” worship God, or how “I” live the Christian life or how “I” interpret scripture.  It rarely expresses the way in which the bible clearly teaches, and that is how God wants me to worship him, how God wants me to live the Christian life, how God interprets scripture.  I definitely see how this could be problematic because their are many liars and deceivers that are in the world but again the scripture covers how we are even supposed to be when people try to lie and deceive us or when we are deceived ourselves.

It is my discernment that the interpretation of scripture by mere men and not of God and our affinity to be sold out to their interpretation is what has crippled and shipwrecked the Christians understanding.  Many times I have seen Christian men and women needing a guru or some type of mediator like Augustine and/or bodies like the magisterium of the r.c.c. etc., to explain to them the mysteries of the scriptures.    These being nothing more than mediums for the doctrines of devils.  These doctrines of devils that lead Christians away from worshipping the “Rock” and instead have them worshipping the “rock”.  A horrible compromise that has so-called Christians thinking they are worshipping God but really are worshipping the god/rock of their own heart and understandingweep

What we as Christians are doing is greiving the Holy Spirit who moved John to write, “18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him”.
There has been many times when I have posed a couple of questions, which have varied a little in the delivery, to professing Christians.  The questions are simple and I am sure many others have posed similar if not the same questions:
If we as Christians had no other book but the scriptures,  and the Holy Spirit leading us into all truth, how would we know what God has said?   And if we know what God has said, why does the Christian faith today look significantly different than the Christian faith that is declared in the scriptures?
I have heard so many excuses to these questions!!  And yes... excuses.  Why they do this why they do that... but their ways are not in the scriptures.  Their ways are froward and they have no faith because they have put their trust in their vanities.
The exhortation that I have is to abide in the Lord Jesus Christ, the word of God, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.  We who are born again are anointed and have the Spirit of the living God inside of us.  Let us not offend the Rock by using mediums to try to know him, which will only lead us to receive a different Jesus, a different spirit and a different gospel.

There was a verse in Deuteronomy chapter 32 that I want to leave you with.  It is from verse 12 and it says, “So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him”.
